This week has been a busy one for us Warren bears! Errands, lessons & a teething, crawling, baby!! Did I mention a crawling baby? Yeah, things just got a little crazier around here now that little Luc has figured out how to get up and go! Anyway, we finally made our second trip to the library today to check out more material on pond life & managed to find the Jon Scieszka books my 7 year old has been asking to read! After checking out our stash of 25+ books, we headed out to one of our favorite parks for lunch to celebrate the first of May & study one of Oak Meadow’s lessons on pond life! 🙂
The boys were hungry, but they were ready to see the ducks. And Luc? He just wanted to figure out how to get that orange open 😉
I packed the boys sandwiches, as they requested & I decided to pack a stacked salad in one of our mason jars, which is not something I typically do (bring a salad to the park) because I’m not a huge fan of plastic wear and I’m afraid I’ll leave my own silverware by accident. BUT, this week I got an awesome set of reusable cutlery that made this choice a no-brainer for me! Salad it is! 🙂
Our lovely set, made by Anne Riggs Designs, came in a fabric pouch with a knife, fork and spoon. The cutlery set is high quality made by Totally Bamboo and is meant to be used over and over again, with hand washing. The pouch measures approximately 3″X 9″ and closes with a Velcro tab, making it easy for anyone, young or old, to open and close it.
This pouch tucks into your briefcase, lunchbox or purse. The pouches are made from high quality designer cotton and can be machine washed and dried. This pouch makes a perfect gift for family or friends!
I put off trying these time and time again because I didn’t think I would stick to it, but just like anything, I had to re-adjust and slowly change old habits.Just like cloth diapering, cloth wipes and even something as small as bringing my own bag to the grocery store, it takes a short time to adjust but so worth it! From my own experience, I have found that after you adjust to these greener ways of life, you’ll be asking yourself why you didn’t just do them in the first place! It’s the easier, smarter & earth friendly way, right?!
I’m trying to teach my kids to appreciate what our planet has to offer and to reuse what they can, if possible. We’re slowly making our transition, and I feel pretty good about it 🙂
